Cinemergence is a student-organized film screening event showcasing short films made by third and fourth year students from the University of Regina.

Films & Filmmakers:
1. Manslaughter dir. by Rebekah Illingworth - 10min
A hazing party spirals into carnage when an infamous campus cult crashes the show. The bros could run, but where’s the fun in that? For the pledges of Sigma Sigma Sigma, murder might just be the ultimate initiation.

2. Escape Rooms dir. by Aiden San Andres - 3min
Sam wakes up in a daze and is forced to play a game. The task is simple: find the key and escape before anything—or anyone—gets in.

3. My Existence in the Mirror dir. By Shamaire Francisco - 10min
A college student begins noticing reality reflecting her inner world back to her, forcing her to confront her own existence within that conscious mirror.

4. In Quite Company dir. by Dani Fink - 2min
A two-minute experimental film shot on 16mm, exploring memory, friendship and queer identity before self-recognition.

5. Flat Top VS. the Volcano Man dir. by Mercury Kapp - 4min
A cyclops by the name of Flat Top attempts to conquer the volcanic home of the man aptly named the Volcano Man.

6. Spatter dir. by Rebekah Illingworth - 2min
An experimental short exploring, through colour, the torment of the endless prairie horizon.16mm and hand-processed. Digitally scanned and edited.

7. The Butterfly On Wednesday dir. by Nicte Recinos-Lane - 14min
Tuesday can’t touch Mona the Butterfly, until she falls down the stairs. On Wednesday, caught in the imminence between ‘erase’ and the ringing that never stops, the Butterfly does not wake up the same.

8. ABOMINABLE INFESTATION dir. by Breton Boudreau - 5min
A twisted and personal look into the mind of a serial killer. Music video for Skelly666’s
“ABOMINABLE INFESTATION.”

9. Horologium dir. by Aiden San Andres - 10min
A man haunted by memories of the past helps build a “machine” and must come face-to-face with the consequences of time and its inevitability.

10. I Can (See The Future) dir. By Jayna Stoudt - 3min
A scrapbook-style animated music video for Leith Ross’ song “I Can (See The Future).” The song and video explore the theme of a better future, as told from the perspective of a person living hundreds of years after us, benefitting from the world we are working to create today.

Q&A Session - 20min
Audience members will be given the chance to ask the filmmakers about their films and learn more about film production from emerging Saskatchewan artists.
